On Saturday 4th May 2024, before the business session of the XXXII Diocesan Synod, the Very Revd Dr Jonathan Munn, formally presented Roy Hipkiss with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi Christian University, Miami, Florida USA, in recognition of Roy’s many years work with disabled children. (Fr Munn is a Fellow of the University and a member of the Faculty of Theology).

As he accepted the award of the degree, Dr Hipkiss said:

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to be awarded this accolade, of which I do not feel worthy. However, I attribute as my inspiration the experience I gained from early in my life to my family and education, within which the needs of disabled children featured. I consider the greatest achievement of my life to be the establishment of Credo Care Fostering Limited. However, I am only too aware that the success of the agency is due to the commitment, dedication, hard work and love displayed to our children and young people by so many of our wonderful foster carers, staff and the child care professionals with whom we work. I accept this award and dedicate it to them in appreciation and thanks for all they do.”
