This year the Bishops Award for outstanding Lay Service to the Church was a great surprise to all! The bishop departed from his
established custom and made a double award to Mrs Margaret and Mr Laurence Mead, his parents, in recognition of their sterling work and unstinting
support in helping to establish, maintain and develop the ACC Parish of St Augustine in Canterbury. The Bishop said that without their help and support the parish would not have come into being. Additionally the Bishop wished to thank his parents for their faithful support and encouragement for
his ministry in the Church for the past 25 years, without which he felt he would just not have been able to keep going in fulfilling his calling.
