On the Feast of St Augustine of Canterbury, being 26th May 2012, Bishop Damien Mead blessed an Icon of St Augustine during a Pontifical Sung Mass in our Canterbury Parish.

The Icon was presented to Bishop Damien by his aunt Mrs Daphne Mead, as a belated present for his 2008 Consecration. Although, Mrs Mead who is a gifted iconographer, was unable to be present for the dedication and blessing due to a recent operation, prayers were said for her recovery and appreciation of the gift expressed.

Dr Jonathan Munn, Lay Reader from Dartford & Rochester, was guest preacher and the Archdeacon, The Venerable Raymond Thompson, officiated at Evensong and Benediction in the afternoon.

Between the Mass and the afternoon service some of those attending visited the Pilgrims Hotel, just around the corner from the Church, for a Parish Lunch.
