On Saturday 29th October the Mission of Our Lady & St Edward celebrated it’s Patronal Festival at the Iron Church.

Father Howard Marsh, the Priest in Charge, said “It is a pity not to have the Patronal Festival on the actual day itself, but Saturday 29th October it had to be to maintain our pattern of Masses held at this lovely Church. I do feel that chopping and changing would become confusing especially for those who travel considerable distances to be with us.”

Roy Shepherd was guest organist and this greatly enhanced the congregational singing of the hymns. Fr Patrick Davies was guest preacher and brought many aspects of the life of St Edward the Confessor to the forefront of the minds of those attending – a holy and devout King greatly loved by his people.

The day started with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the Angelus led by Fr Charles Johnson, Dean of the North. Fr Howard was celebrant of the Mass and David Yates served.

A buffet followed the Mass and turned into a good social occasion enabling new members of the congregation to become known to everyone and begin to feel at home.
