At the XXXIII Diocesan Synod held on 10th May 2025 at the Cathedral Church of St Augustine of Canterbury, Painters Forstal, Kent, the Bishop announced changes to the structure of the Diocese.

Since 2009 the Diocese has been divided into two Deaneries (North and South). Prior to this a Diocesan Dean served the whole Diocese. The Bishop explained that with immediate effect the two Deaneries, North and South, would be suspended and the role of Diocesan Dean which had previously been in abeyance was to be reappointed. Canon Jonathan Munn’s move from the Northern Deanery to be the Dean of the Cathedral, left The Very Revd Andrew Scurr (pictured) as the only Area Dean. The Bishop therefore confirmed that Fr Scurr would be the new Diocesan Dean.

At the Synod the Bishop renewed the Licence of The Venerable Raymond Thompson, as Archdeacon and Vicar General for a 3 year period.
