In the wake of the developments from the recent General Synod of the Church of England, the Anglican Catholic Diocese of the United Kingdom would like to reaffirm that it holds firmly:
a) that Holy Matrimony is a lifelong partnership between one man and one woman in accordance with the Catholic doctrine as stated in the Book of Common Prayer and in accordance with Holy Scripture, the Holy Fathers and Reason;
b) that the Church has no authority to alter this sacrament;
c) that all are welcome into Anglican Catholic parishes and missions and this welcome is extended equally, lovingly and warmly, irrespective of persons or their circumstances.
The Rt Rev Dr Damien Mead,
Bishop Ordinary of the Anglican Catholic Church – Diocese of the United Kingdom
