From 5th November to 19th November 2016 Bishop Mead was on a Transatlantic roundtrip from Southampton to New York on the Cunard Flagship Queen Mary 2. Combining a holiday with a celebration of his parents Golden Wedding Anniversary.
During the crossing he was present on the commemoration of Armistice Day (11th November) and Remembrance Sunday (13th November). Each day was marked with 2 minutes silence and on Armistice Day a list of the names of Cunard Ships lost in wartime since the beginning of the Shipping Line in 1838, was read over the public address system. On the Sunday Captain Christopher Wells, the Master of QM2, led a moving service in the Ship’s Crown Court Theatre.
