St Augustine’s Church, Canterbury, Kent joined, with much enthusiasm, in a Street Party outside Church, in celebration of the Royal Wedding of HRH The Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton on Friday 29th April 2011.
Organised by Best Lane Residents, led by Diana Pellett and Catherine Garrad, the Street Party was a roaring success. Bishop Damien Mead, who is also Rector of St Augustine’s, was joined by members of the congregation in providing tea, coffee and other refreshments in front of the Church. Miss Jennifer Rigden, the Church’s Cantor, was also selling iced and decorated cup cakes. All profits are to go to a charity supporting the homeless in the City.
During the day many locals and visitors to Canterbury alike entered the Church and asked questions about the ACC. Many neighbours taking the opportunity of visiting for the first time.
