The Anglican Catholic Church of St Augustine, Best Lane, Canterbury has been making plans for some time to open a Church Supply and Christian Gift Shop in the City. A suitable leasehold premises has been found and a new company formed. Although an independently financed venture, two of the three directors are ACC members (including Bishop Mead who is Chairman) and the Manager is Mr Richard Mulholland a member of St Augustine’s Congregation.

The planned opening date for the shop is 1st September 2010 which will begin with a Solemn Sung Mass at 12 noon in St Augustine’s followed by a procession to the new shop which is in the adjacent Orange Street. The Bishop has stated that the aim of the shop is to celebrate and promote Canterbury’s Christian heritage as well as serve the wider Christian Community and Christian Tourists. A special range of goods focusing upon the Saints of Canterbury and the famous ‘Canterbury Cross’ are in hand as is the promotion of traditional Anglican and Catholic books and Church requisites.

A temporary window display has begun to draw the attention of passers by and an accompanying web site will be launched in due course.
