The Patronal Festival of the Church of Our Lady of Walsingham and St Francis of Assisi began with a wet and overcast morning but the sun came out in time for the annual procession in honour of Our Lady. The Bishop presided and then celebrated Mass and preached. The Very Revd Raymond Thompson, Parish Priest and Dean of the South, Deaconed the Mass.
After the service whilst those attending had their packed lunches and refreshments the Bishop presented the Parish with a new Statue of Our Lady of Walsingham. Father Thompson asked the Bishop to bless the statue before it was installed in the Church.
After lunch some of those attending remained in Church for Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
