Grey skies and strong winds threatened to dampen the proceedings as Our Lady and Saint Francis prepared to celebrate their Co-Patronal Festival on 4 October. The prayers of the congregation were answered, however, and we enjoyed not only our usual outdoor procession, but also the planned picnic. The day was extra special this year, because the celebrant and preacher was our new Bishop, on his first official engagement since his Consecration. It was highly appropriate that his first Episcopal Diocesan Visitation should be to Rochester as, of course, he was once Parish Priest here. A number of visitors came along to join with us for what was a very enjoyable day. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament was given by Fr Thompson before everyone set off for home.
