Priest received on the Feast of the Holy Trinity

On Trinity Sunday (22nd May) 2016 the Bishop received into the full communion of the Anglican Catholic Church the Reverend Jeen George Thomas (47), from the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church of India (who are in communion with the Roman Catholic Church). Fr Thomas has been in touch with the Bishop for a number of years and was interviewed by the Board of Ministry earlier this year. He has recently relocated to the UK from Italy where he had been living for sometime. He hopes that his wife and young son who are still in Italy will be able to follow him in due course.
Fr Thomas was ordained Priest in the Diocese of Changanacherry, Kerla, South India by Archbishop Joseph Powathil in 1996 and holds various qualifications from India and Italy. In India he served as a Parish Priest and Chaplain to a Convent. He also served as the Director of a Church Orphanage in Kalyan Diocese. Bishop Mead has, because of his current need to establish a permanent base ion the UK, licensed him as Chaplain to the Bishop Ordinary. In due course he will be assigned Parish or Mission work.
The Style of vestments and clerical wear in the Eastern Church are very different to our own Western tradition so in preparation for his reception Fr Thomas received the gift of a cassock and cotta from ACC Members Chris and Cathy Bosworth. Before Mass Bishop Mead presented him with a set of Stoles.
