NOTE: Getting Married in the ACC
Statement from Bishop Mead:
The Anglican Catholic Church, in common with other Christian Churches, welcomes and supports men and women who wish to be joined together in the life long, indisoluble bond, of Holy Matrimony. Because Holy Matrimony is a Sacrament, that is an outward visible symbol of an inward spiritual grace, we take this matter very seriously.
Please note the following before making such an enquiry:
(a) We are not the Anglican Church - ie: Church of England.
(b) Most of our Church buildings are not licenced for the Solemnisation of Matrimony, therefore a Civil Ceremony is usually required either at a Civil Registry Office or with a Registrar present before the wedding service can take place in Church.
(c) Marriage is the ACC is governed by not only the civil law of the United Kingdom but also by our own Canonical Law. There are various important conditions covered by both of these that all those seeking Holy Matrimony within our Church must satisfy.
(d) Ordinarily at least ONE of the parties should be a member of the Anglican Catholic Church and both baptised.
(c) Marriage in the ACC is not 'a soft option', in fact our policy is more traditional and conservative than that of some other Churches. Participation in Marriage preparation is required for those seeking this Sacrament in our Church.
(d) Getting married in the UK, even to a British National or someone already granted Residency (domicile) doesn't guarantee entry to or permission to remain in the UK.
The Right Revd Damien Mead
It has been brought to our attention that there are, in circulation, emails purportedly coming from the Anglican Catholic Church, Diocese of the United Kingdom. In particular from a 'clergyman' calling himself The Rev.Mark Hillstrom.
This is a scam concerning a 'bequest of many millions' and should you encounter it do not impart any personal information whatsoever. Hillstrom, if he exists, is not and never has been an ACC clergyman.
