Raising the Roof in Lydd

The Chapel in the grounds of the Bishop's home, "St Nicholas House" in Lydd, Kent, is receiving its long awaited new roof this week. The Chapel is dedicated to St Nicholas - Patron Saint of Sailors and Children - both of which are very applicable. Lydd is a Limb Member of the ancient Confederation of Cinque Ports - "The Cradle of the Royal Navy". The Chapel's first home was within the building housing Bishop Mead's Fostering Agency "Credo Care Ltd", in Lydd High Street, which specialises in caring for Children with disabilities and complex medical needs.
St Nicholas House, the foundations of which date circa 1420, in addition to being the Bishop's home, houses the ACC Diocesan Office and is a focal point for the ACC Provisional Mission also dedicated to the Saint.
