Prayers for France

The Bishop and Diocesan Council meeting in London today offered prayers for all those killed and injured and effected by the recent atrocities in Paris and for the people of France generally. On behalf of the Diocese the Bishop extends heartfelt condolences to those who have lost loved ones, to those injured and expresses the shock and outrage, shared by so many the world over, at the wicked evil unleashed against the innocent people of Paris.
Among the prayers offered was an invocation of Our Lady of Paris, Patron of the City.
Hail O Blessed Virgin, Our Lady of Paris, We ask thy prayers for thy city. From the banks of the Seine, watch over the country of France and shelter it with the protection of thy prayers. O Mother, teach its people to hope in thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ! O Virgin Mary, We ask thy intercession for all the earth's people, grant that they may be one in God's love. Through the same, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
