Walsingham Pilgrimage 2015

The Mission of Our Lady and St Edward, Bolton, Lancashire, went on pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Norfolk, from Monday 1st June to Thursday 4th June 2015 - for 3 nights.

Father Howard Marsh, Priest in Charge of the Bolton Mission, who led the Pilgrimage writes:

"We were once more as a party, and myself as a priest warmly welcomed to the Shrine of Walsingham for our three day Pilgrimage last week. Being there is a highlight of the year - to be in England's Nazareth one more, but to attend the Service of Reconciliation on the Tuesday and the torch light procession on the Wednesday evening are such beautiful experiences for any pilgrim, that no matter how many times you are there the Holy Spirit really comes to the hearts and minds of the congregation assembled.

I was asked to take part in the Sprinkling and the Laying on of Hands and was privileged to do so. In the Wednesday Procession Roger Bell was Thurifer and David Yates was Acolyte. Ruth Yates was our photographer.

We also enjoyed the use of the Guild of All Souls Chapel for our daily Mass at 8am and I was again privileged to have two servers on call to assist me at the Altar - thank you Roger and David.

We look forward to next years visit but will be sad not to see Bishop Lindsay Urwin as Administrator - he leaves this coming September to take up parochial duties in Melbourne in his native Australia. He will be a hard act to follow but we wish him well.

We had the chance to chat to him on the morning we left."
