Bishop's 'Suffering Church Appeal' Update

The Diocesan Treasurer, The Revd Dr Jonathan Munn, is pleased to announce that the Bishop's Appeal for the Suffering Church, which he made 2 weeks ago, has so far raised £550.

This is to be divided equally between 'Aid to the Church in Need' and 'The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East' - supporting the work of Canon Andrew White and providing humanitarian relief in Iraq through St George's Anglican Church and Clinic.

Commenting on the money so far raised, Bishop Damien said,; " If one looks upon this £550 not simply as a miniscule drop in the ocean of financial assistance needed to help alleviate the dreadful suffering in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in the world, where our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering persecution for BEING Christians. But, instead, taken as a measure of the commitment to help from our Diocese (the total membership of which is so very tiny), it is a considerable charitable achievement. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed thus far and invite others to contribute."
