On Tuesday 8th November, The Revd Michael Clothier, Priest in Charge of the Mission of St Benedict, South Molton, Devon, was invited to Downside Abbey, Bath, to meet his namesake; Rev. Dom Michael Clothier OSB.

The ACC's Fr Michael writes;

"I first came across the Rev Dom Michael Clothier OSB when reading the
Downside Review, which is a Benedictine quarterly publication by
Downside Abbey.

Earlier this year in corresponding with the Abbey I asked if it would be possible to meet Father Michael as the name Clothier is not a common one and to have two Priests called Michael Clothier and both being Benedictine's must be very unusual. The outcome of which was I was invited to the Abbey to meet Father Michael who as far we we could work out is not a relation, as Father Michael is a Somerset Clothier and I am a London Clothier.

Footnote: It's not often that Bishop Mead is lost for words but upon being told there are two Father Michael Clothiers The
Bishop just smiled!
